Ferrari Styling Center designs one-off SP48 Unica

The new Ferrari SP48 Unica is the latest one-off from the Ferrari Styling Center headed by Flavio Manzoni, requested and designed to the specifications of a loyal customer of the brand. Although the model is based on the same platform as the F8 Tributo, apart from sharing its twin-turbo V8, the entire body has been reimagined by Ferrari’s Special Projects team.
The SP48 Unica stands out with its stretched lines and aggressive identity. It features a streamlined front end, windowless rear with a wraparound light bar, blacked-out A-pillar and lower side air intakes. However, the exclusion of the rear window and smaller side windows makes the car feel like it's sculpted out of a single block of metal.
The sharp front of the SP48 Unica is dominated by sleek headlamps incorporating slim Led lines, air intakes on the hood, and a grille with a tridimensional effect made possible through procedural-parametric modeling techniques and 3D prototyping.
“This advanced production process resulted in perfect 3D grilles that seem carved from a solid volume, creating a sense of seamless continuity and dynamic fluidity,” Ferrari said.
At the back, the F8's four round taillights have been replaced with slim taillights that are positioned in a black bar that runs across the tail. The longer rear fitted with narrower intake paths results in a 12% reduction in drag over the F8.
Performance-wise, retaining the F8's drivetrain means the SP48 gets a twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 producing 720 hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the SP48 will be able to match or exceed the F8's 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds and top speed of 211 mph.
Ferrari didn’t share any photos of the interior, but says the overall cabin architecture is shared with the F8 Tributo and is covered in matte carbon fiber with "Grigio Canna de Fucile" accents.
It took nearly three years to design the one-off Ferrari SP48 Unica for a long-standing client who was involved in every phase of its creation. A great example of what the Ferrari Styling Center is capable of.
