We already know that Ferrari is working on its very first SUV and that it will be called the Purosangue, but we never thought we’d see the day where a Ferrari SUV became a reality. The 2022 Ferrari Purosangue SUV has been caught again near Ferrari's global HQ in Maranello, Italy, with a test mule body based on the Maserati Levante with a few modifications like shorter rear doors, bigger grille, a longer bonnet and larger air intakes.

Recently Ferrari confirmed that the new Purosangue will be based on the same platform as the Roma GT, which will be adapted for the Purosangue. Rumors suggest the Ferrari Purosangue will be built on a scalable architecture that can handle a V6, V8, or even a V12 with some sort of electrification in a hybrid form. All wheel drive is a must since the Ferrari Purosangue is believed to replace the GTC4Lusso, so you can expect an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid SUV, similar in design to the unit found in the SF90 Stradale.

Since it’s a development mule, it’s too early to know how the final design will look like, it could be another year before the first prototypes with the actual body hit the road. In an interview with international media at the 2019 Geneva motor show, Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri said, “We announced that it would be launched in 2022, that hasn’t changed”.
