The upcoming Ferrari Hypercar spied on track

A test mule based on the LaFerrari Aperta was caught again in matte black! This coincide with Ferrari’s announcement a few weeks ago that it will enter the Le Mans Hypercar class with a factory programme and own hypercar.

Although the prototype is based on a LaFerrari Aperta, the body has some key design changes like a completely new front bumper, side air intakes, a new roof and rear window. However, the mule shows nothing about the new car’s design, and is only to test components beneath the modified LaFerrari Aperta bodywork.

The powertrain is still mysterious, especially that Ferrari’s chief marketing officer, Enrico Galliera, suggested that Ferrari’s next flagship hypercar won’t focus on boosting the SF90’s 1000hp output but instead on lightness, controllability and aerodynamic efficiency. Rumors says this new hypercar will probably use a V12, the F154 twin-turbocharged V8 or Ferrari’s new twin-turbo V6 it also has in development.

Back in 2019, Galliera told Auto Express: “Yes, we are working on the next hypercar, which will come after 2022.” So expect the LaFerrari's successor to revealed in 2022, prior to racing in the 2023 LeMans.
