Ferrari has been caught testing a mysterious 812 Superfast prototype again on the streets of Maranello! Probably, this could be the mystery model Ferrari is planning to unveil later this year.

Compared to the regular 812 Superfast, this black prototype features a redesigned front bumper with a much larger rear diffuser and vents around the exhaust tips, new air intakes, as well as a different soundtrack compared to the other car. In fact, both the front and rear fascias are different.

Expect low production numbers of this hardcore variant that will likely arrive in late 2021 or early 2022, and look forward to multiple accolades such as engine of the Year Award and World's most powerful N/A road car motor in Ferrari’s trophy cabinet. Rumors suggest the 812’s naturally aspirated V12 engine will get a boost to 850 horsepower and an increase in RPM from 8,500 to over 9000, with perhaps a top speed that exceeds 211mph. The 812 Superfast generates 789 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque from a 6.5-liter V12 engine.

An official name hasn’t been confirmed, but rumors claim the hardcore 812 Superfast will revive the GTO name or the suffix VS - Versione Speciale - Italian for Special Version. Of course, this is only speculation.

Is it an 812 Superfast reincarnation? A revival of Ferrari's GTO badge? That was lastly used a decade ago with the 599 GTO, Ferrari’s fastest road car production ever at the time, and dates back to the iconic 1962 250 GTO. Or is it just a test mule for powertrain or aerodynamic developments? Meanwile, click here to check the spy video, and feel free to share your opinion on our Patreon or Instagram page!
