We've seen a handful of spy shots of Ferrari’s upcoming SUV since the company announced the Purosangue in 2018, but this is the first time two have been seen casually cruising on public roads, and one has a mysterious opening in the front fender. The test mules spied by @varryx_ around Maranello are still wearing the Maserati Levante body, but with totally different underpinnings underneath it. The first sighting was under the GTC4Lusso skin, reportedly testing its powertrain.
As they are still wearing a fully camouflaged wrap, which hides the modified Maserati Levante body, it’s still early to know how the final model will look like. However, the Purosangue should obviously inherit the aesthetic codes of Ferrari’s latest models.
Power-wise, the Purosangue will have a newly developed front mid-engine architecture carrying a four-wheel-drive setup, and will likely be available with various powertrains. It could come with a V6, V8, or even a V12 engine that is churned up by electric motors.
Expect Ferrari’s first ever SUV to be officially revealed in 2022 according to the company’s original schedule, and will go on sale as a 2023 model. It will compete against the 626 hp Bentley Bentayga, the 641 hp Lamborghini Urus, and the Aston Martin DBX, which is powered by a 542 hp V8 engine.
