Inside the garage: The ARO Collection

Ferrari clients are very attached to the brand. This attachment pressures the high-end Italian automaker to maintain and expand its relationship with current and future customers by offering exclusive opportunities, events, and services.

Based in Zurich, Switzerland, and London, UK, The ARO Collection is not just like any other car collector. Owning a simple-specced Ferrari is one thing; owning a highly-specced Ferrari is another; but owning a collection of exclusive and limited Ferraris is on another level. Lately, pictures of their distinctive collection have attracted a large number of enthusiasts’ attention on Instagram. We had the chance to contact the collector and find out more about his cars, his thoughts regarding Ferrari's SUV, and more!

Your collection is pretty unique; what initiated your desire to collect Ferrari’s finest cars?

Having owned sports cars for over 30 years now, it was always a desire to buy a Ferrari. In fact, we almost got an Enzo but decided on the Carrera GT instead!

We noticed most of the Ferraris in your collection are recent or newer cars; do you plan to start collecting more classics (early 2000s and perhaps cars from the 20th century)?

For now, we like the modern cars; the way they drive is fantastic!

Some of the Ferrari owners’ most enjoyable experiences come from collecting their newly-built limited car from the famous gates of the Officina Classiche building in Maranello; have you ever done it? If not, would you consider it for future Ferrari models?

All our cars had their specifications decided at Maranello, and the F12 TDF was collected from the factory. A very amazing experience! Of course, we would do this again if we could. The first factory collection was the Carrera GT from Leipzig!

At first glance at your profile, we thought you owned both the LaFerrari Coupe and Aperta! This is quite a special spec on your LaF Coupe!

We don’t have both, and this is a common misconception about the specifications of our black LaFerrari. This was added to the car prior to the unveiling of the Aperta! We were discussing ideas in the atelier at Maranello when the stripe came up, and it just looked perfect. Ferrari obviously agreed, as the strip is also now on the Aperta!

You own a fabulous 599 GTO that is currently listed for sale. Talk us through the specs of this car and why it is such a unique car compared to the other GTOs!

The car has Rosso F1 paint and a full FXX kit, including side winglets; this kit is the only one in the world with matte carbon fiber. All others are either painted or glossy. The entire interior is trimmed in alcantara, including the boot! We also have full carbon fiber in the engine bay. In total, the car has over 70,000 euros of optional extras. We are the original owners, and the car has 5900km on it. There are very few one-owner GTOs around with low mileage and such high specifications.

We all have that one special car we would directly pick when asked which one is our favorite. Out of all your Ferraris, which one is your favorite?

The TDF is a very special car; it has an exceptionally high specification and ultra-rare carbon fiber monocoque seats inside. The car is fantastic to drive, fantastic to look at, and limited to 799 cars. What more could you want?

Is there any Ferrari you owned in the past that you regret selling? One you would buy back in the future, maybe because of the specifications or the joy of driving it?

We always regret selling cars, but they go for a reason, and one must look for new things in the future.

The F12 TDF is personally our favorite! Can you talk us through the experience of waiting for such a special car to be built and delivered?

This was a very exciting car to spec, having originally visited Maranello in 2016 to spec the car and taking collection in 2017, which for a Ferrari is not such a long time to wait. Not as exciting as waiting for a number of years for the LaFerrari.

What’s your favorite memory or event with the 458 Speciale that you recently sold?

We took this car on the Mille Miglia, and it is absolutely incredible!

When Ferrari releases its SUV, what would prompt you to buy one? (features, engine, hybrid or not).

We are very interested in replacing our G65 with the new Ferrari SUV once it is released! Who wouldn’t want a Ferrari SUV?

Do you think Ferrari does well in terms of the combination of power and drivability to deliver the best driving experience?

Yes, although we do prefer the N/A engines to the new turbo cars, they are incredible to drive.

Will you add some of Ferrari's latest releases to your collection? 812 GTS, Roma, SP1/2, F8, SF90? Any exclusive news for our readers?

Should there be an 812 ‘GTO’ or ‘TDF’ released, we will add one to our collection if we get the allocation, and of course, we believe this will be the last V12 N/A special car they release.
