Hardcore 812 is about to be revealed: The Versione Speciale

Previously thought to be reviving Ferrari's “GTO” badge, Enrico Galliera, Ferrari's chief marketing officer, has now appeared in a video where he announced to the car as the “812 Versione Speciale,” Italian for “812 Special Version.” The video is simply to alert potential clients to the model’s existence and motivate them ordering one, expect a longer video more focused on the car soon. Reports suggest that the car could be the last Ferrari with a naturally aspirated front-mounted V12.

“It’s a new model that really represents a breakthrough,” said Enrico Galliera, chief marketing officer at Ferrari. “The car is really stunning, and a short video showing the car wouldn’t be enough to tell you what does it mean. So, you have to wait a little bit for the official reveal,” he stated.

Test mules hint the car will feature a redesigned front bumper with a much larger rear diffuser and vents around the exhaust tips, new air intakes, as well as a different soundtrack compared to the other car. In fact, both the front and rear fascias are different.

Rumors suggest the 812’s naturally aspirated V12 engine will get a boost to 850 horsepower and an increase in RPM from 8,500 to over 9000, with perhaps a top speed that exceeds 211mph. The 812 Superfast generates 789 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque from a 6.5-liter V12 engine.

Expect low production numbers of this hardcore variant that will likely arrive as soon as next week, and look forward to multiple accolades such as engine of the Year Award and World's most powerful N/A road car motor in Ferrari’s trophy cabinet.
