Ferrari’s F40 that burned to the ground in Monaco might be revived

You might remember the Ferrari F40 that caught fire on the streets of Monaco in February 2020. It was obviously a very sad day that ended in tragedy when this rare & iconic Rosso Ferrari F40, considered for many car enthusiast as the pinnacle of poster supercars, was destroyed. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident.

The F40 owner has reportedly decided to revitalize his supercar despite being  consumed by flame and melted to the ground. Assuming the info is correct, rebuilding this 1987 F40 will cost the owner a ton of money. Like any restoration project, when a car lies in pieces, this requires an exercise in artistry to complete this project. Stripping the F40 down is essential to knowing the supercar inside out, and being as efficient as possible.

The post on the Ferrari Owners Club NL Facebook group provides a great look at the extent of the damage to the driver's side and some of the structure underneath, passenger compartment, and engine bay. The front of the supercar is the only unaffected part.

Unfortunately, nothing appears to be fixable. Restoring a classic car, requires time, patience, skill and of course, an experienced, certified garage to handle such a masterpiece & to afford getting original replacement parts. Bringing this F40 back to life is a rewarding experience.

Commenters on Ferrari Chat debated whether rebuilding that car is possible or not, or if the finished product would be assigned to the same VIN or not. Maybe an F40 replica wearing an authentic VIN?

A commenter on the Ferrari Chat forum designated that a dealer in Germany bought the car with the purpose of restoring it. Motor1 mentioned there was also a photo of a truck picking it up, presumably to go to the new owner. Hopefully Ferrari has enough parts for this beauty, otherwise, it’s impossible to achieve this project.
