Ferrari to reveal a Hybrid V6 on June 24
Yesterday, Ferrari teased in a video the arrival of a new "revolutionary Prancing Horse" scheduled to go official on June 24. The video shows FDA Esports Driver and 2019 F1 Pro Series World Champion David Tonizza doing his job. Reports suggests this is the long-awaited hybrid V6 Ferrari, which was originally announced back in September 2018 by former CEO Louis Camilleri during the Capital Markets Day.
The new entry-level model was spotted lately testing on the roads around the company's headquarters in a heavily-camouflaged prototype. The silhouette shows a resemblance to the latest mid-engined SF90 Stradale and F8 Tributo. The rear ends with an elongated tail and two exhaust pipes coming out of the centre, looks similar to the hybrid SF90.
Codenamed F171, the new hybrid is believed to house a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine paired to an electric motor, and rumored to offer over 700 horsepower. In contrast to the SF90 Stradale in which the electric motor enables a front-wheel-drive mode, it will be RWD.
An email sent to customers of the brand hints the new Ferrari will be launched this month, with insiders pointing to a global online reveal on 24 June 2021.
"Ferrari powers into June with exciting news – the launch of a new sports car, of the marque’s fashion collection, and the opening of the Cavallino restaurant," the email read. "Each reflects the passion and excellence of the Prancing Horse."
Producing a V6 hybrid powertrain linked to Charles Leclerc & Carlos Sainz single-seaters could be the best offer for customers looking for an experience similar to that of a Formula 1 car. Save the date!
