Ferrari teases upcoming 2022 812 ‘Versione Speciale’, to be unveiled on May 5

Today, Ferrari’s top customers had the chance to get a first glance of the new 2022 Ferrari 812 ‘Versione Speciale’ that the Italian sports car manufacturer will officially unveil on May 5 live from the Fiorano track. This new variant gets more power from its 6.5-litre V12 engine, increased downforce, and less weight thanks to the use of carbon-fibre throughout the vehicle.
In February, Ferrari's chief marketing officer, Enrico Galliera, sent to Ferrari customers a video announcing its new hardcore model that will be called the "812 Versione Speciale," which is Italian for "812 Special Version". Last week, new spy shots of the 812 Versione Speciale has leaked online via Instagram page @ferraricarpassion, giving us a sneak peek at what looks to be the final prototype camouflaged.
Compared to the 812 Superfast, the rear fascia is massively revised, the rear glass has been replaced with a colored vented roof that look like louvers when viewed from above. Not to mention the higher rear spoiler, and the rear window replaced by an aluminium panel with vortex generators integrated to enhance the aerodynamics.
The hood features aggressive large air intakes to increase downforce, and a massive carbon-fibre blade integrated into the bonnet.
The new model also benefits from many upgrades like new aerodynamics, revised side vents to improve the overall airflow, a new exhaust system, a new version of Ferrari’s 7.0 version Slip Slide Control system, and the introduction of an independent four wheel steering to improve agility and steering responsiveness.
The 812’s naturally aspirated V12 engine will get a boost to 830 horsepower and an increase in RPM from 8,500 to over 9500, with perhaps a top speed that exceeds 211mph. The 812 Superfast generates 789 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque from a 6.5-liter V12 engine.
The missing piece of the puzzle is how many units of the special version of the 812 will be produced, however current reports suggest that Ferrari will build 899 coupes and 499 convertibles.
The 812 Versione Speciale will be revealed on May 5 and will probably be the last naturally aspirated Ferrari, and look forward to multiple accolades such as engine of the Year Award and World's most powerful N/A road car motor in Ferrari’s trophy cabinet.
