Are you ready for a new Ferrari V6 Hybrid?

The heavily camouflaged prototype of Ferrari’s new hybrid V6, known internally as the F171, was spied again by Instagram user @derek.photography in Maranello running road tests. Although Ferrari hasn't built a V6-powered model since the beloved Dino, the company confirmed back in 2019 that a V6 was in development and here we are now dealing with a prototype that looks to be its production body. It was caught earlier on wearing the body of a 488 GTB.
The prototype appears to have a silhouette similar to the mid-engined sports car of the brand, which is believed to follow in the foot steps of the the incredible Ferrari F8 Tributo. However, the high-voltage sign behind the driver's door means the supercar is electrified, much like its predecessor the SF90 Stradale in terms of electrified models. According to observers, the two circular exhaust pipes are fake, with the real exhaust hiding between them. One of the prototypes was also fitted with camouflaged rims.
Reports suggest the upcoming mid-engined V6 Ferrari hybrid powertrain will be a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine paired to an electric motor, and obviously a battery pack. In contrast to the SF90 Stradale in which the electric motor enables a front-wheel-drive mode, the new hybrid will be RWD.
More informations should be revealed soon as it is close to completing its development, and is set to be unveiled at the end of the year. Stay tuned for many more electrified projects from Ferrari, as Ferrari aims for 60 percent hybridization by 2022.
